No One's Daughter
His eyes
manic, crazed
Search for some way out
some escape
But the iron bars
beat him to it
Not today
His attention
redirected
Though his pleas
still grate
between locked teeth
The whining
stops,
at last
And I answer
You will always be my father
But you have ceased being my dad
