The Bittersweet Thief
Death is sweet
With the honey on the tongues
Of the pale.
But it is selfish,
And keeps the treats to itself.
And in return for such stolen gifts,
We are taken with no warning
Disturbing our peaceful yearning
Our breath still warm
On the frosted window,
Our steps still echoing
In the cold, decrepit house.
