Ode to Darkness

There is love in the darkness, like a child in the womb
Forever dark, but never completely alone
An angel guarding her lover’s tomb

There is mystery in the darkness, like a book with missing pages
Forever searching, but never finding an answer
A mutt chasing after its tail

There is beauty in the darkness, like the moon’s glow on the ocean
Forever guiding, but never as glorious as the sun
A son following his faulty father’s footsteps

There is warmth in the darkness, like your lover’s strong embrace
Forever wanting more, but never willing to let go
An addict that can’t put down the needle

There is distance in the darkness, like a hero hiding in the shadows
Forever protecting us, but never revealing its true self
An unfaithful spouse nestled in the sheets

The author's comments:
I wrote this ode to shine light onto the darkness and to show that there can be negative to every positive. It's still an ode full of praise because the positives would be nothing without some fault.

I really think this poem accurately showcases truth about the darkness. The author lets us see into her dark soul and it's fabulous!
