Lord I know
Lord I know
“Love everyone as I have loved you”
But when I’m betrayed and have lost the innocence
Could you please fill me with the presence
Of You.
Lord I know
“Fear is not faith”
But when I’m paralyzed and in agony
Could you please gently remind me
Of this.
Lord I know
“Others have it worse”
But human nature is selfish and when I don’t think
Could you humbly remind me
Of this.
Lord I know
“Pain is purposeful”
But when I’m on my knees screaming
Could your hand guide me
Through it
Lord I know
“I’m never alone”
But when darkness threatens to consume
Could your light break through
To me
Lord I know
“You are Love.”
But when I suffer and experience only silence
Could you bridge the distance
Between us.
Lord I know
I am such a mess
So when I falter and hate who I am
Could you pick up the remains and show me I can
Begin again
