Endless Time
Our Fingers are entwined,
for that is the only hope we can grasp.
She puts her lips to my ear,
and whispers "our love will always be sealed"
Except this time her breath is no longer warm and sweet,
against my now fragile cheek,
instead it is drenched in fear,
for she knew our fate was growing near.
But soon the moon grew high,
and we grew closer in are tiny life raft,
I took her up and held her gently,
then slowly rasped, "I love you"
before sealing it with a kiss,
ignoring the pain of chapped lips on chapped lips
knowing it may be our very last.
She looked into my eyes, into my heart
and I knew she was saying "I love you too"
Not long after, all I could hear
was her shallow breathing against my chest,
before I too fell victim to exhaustion .
Soon I found a drowsy me awaken,
to watch a beautiful sunrise over the Atlantic again,
only this time she lay silent,
I kissed her hand still entwined with mine,
and I too slipped into Endless Time.
