Beneath the surface

I feel my feet leave the edge of the rickety dock,
the sudden shock of the cold water freezes time.
As I hold my breath I look around me, surprised by the beauty of silence.
The sudden shock of the cold water freezes time,
I sink beneath the crashing waves,
surprised by the beauty of silence
as the dark water swallows me into its depths.
I sink beneath the crashing waves,
my ears muffled as to the noise above the water.
The dark water swallows me into its depths,
the ocean is the only place where I can truly be alone.
