“I do not understand why, when I ask for grilled lobster in a restaurant, I’m never served a cooked telephone.” – Salvador Dali

The white shimmer of snow
Sparkling under my feet
Covers the mountains
Like a silvery sheet

Crisp alpine air
Biting at my face
Flurrying the snow
With nature’s fair grace

Smelling of sky
Of snow, of pine
The whispering wind blows
Over the land that is mine

Stretching for miles
A vibrant blue
The sky’s the limit
Of this view

Mountains rise up
Shadow and light
Roughness of surface
In the kingdom of white

Trees on mountains
Like fur on a dog
A snowswept white
The color of fog

Land of silence
Calm as ice
Winter’s grasp
Can be quite nice

Perched at the crest
Ready to soar
Free as the eagle
The mountain is more

I was inspired by the beauty of the natural world, and the idea that a paradise reflects the person it is loved by.
