Letting Go of the Shield
I’ll tell you a story about someone’s life.
It’s about a girl who lived in perfect strife.
Order was her dominion,
And every action taken was followed by someone’s opinion.
This story is true,
Just not about my life.
Whose life, you ask?
Someone hiding behind a mask.
I’ve tried to reach out to her,
But she’s quick to recoil and try to defer.
Judgment blinds her idly by.
Time and time again I have tried to tell her that I’m not the bad guy.
But not of these attempts matter.
She was hurt once,
And fears another batter…
