We got some time to be able to mingle.
I believe we all be single.
Some of us are just tryin to sing a jingle.

We be a workin all day.
Even then there’s still time to play.
“God is good- all the time!”- that’s what we say.
Even though it’s hot, life is a-okay.

Homie, I’m a rapper on a roof.
“God is Good!”- that ain’t no spoof.
With shiglin, ya don’t goof.

Need ta get the job done, but I’m still just a rapper on a roof!

Yo, I’m just hangin here with Abby.
The view ain’t bad, and life ain’t shabby.
Runnin through the field is a tabby.
The cow behind the fence look’s crabby.

Up here I’m always tied down.
I’m being helped by Mr. Paul Brown Brown.
Keith comes from down town.
Melisa works as a life guard, makin sure people don’t drown.

Patrick it seems is always hamerin nails.
While Daniel is making up tales.
So far there haven’t been any fails.
But, at the end of the day- we feel like snails!

Don’t worry- we’ll fix it while it’s sunny!
We ain’t fool’s, so don’t look at us funny!

Her advice we a heedin.
In the crew van, she is never a speedin.
I got a band aid case ya start bleedin.

When you’re on the ground, you wanna wear a hard hat.
Ya get hit, n’ your brains go splat.
Bout safety we can chat.
Yell “Headache!” when ya throw- ya won’t regret that!

Yo, I get my nails outta my pouch.
Ta hammer, I need to crouch.
Climbing up the ladder is what Hannah will vouch.
Around here, no one is a grouch.

Yeah the girls are always tryin ta play matchmaker with Quin.
They know the girl he wants to win.
Who say talkin about love is a sin?
I see it as better than hammerin tin.

Up here, yo so high.
You feel like you could touch the sky-
you think you can, so you try.
You can only dream of being able to fly.

Homie, I’m just a rapper on a roof.
“God is Good!”- that ain’t no spoof.
With shiglin, ya don’t goof.
Why this row is slanted, I need proof.
The job is almost done, and I’m still just a rapper on a roof!

With roofin, you always gotta be precise.
Not wearin the safety harness is just rollin the dice.
I’ve heard of people who have had to pay the price.
So, just listen to the contractor’s advice.

I yell: “Ya got clearance- Clarance!”- “Huh?” is what he gets out.
Lizzy is probably wonderin what I’m talkin bout.
I on accident drop a nail in the rain spout.
If I’ll get it back- I doubt.

Now we are about at the peak.
We hope we have fixed your leak.
If we didn’t, please speak.
For the hole we will seek.

Yo, I’m just a rapper on a roof.
“God is Good!”- that ain’t no spoof.

Now the job is almost done.
Alison makes sure we get a lot of water when we are in the sun.
Roofin has proved a lot of fun,
but now it is time for us to run.

Maybe you wanna be a rapper on a roof too.
Trust me, it’s easy to do.
All ya need is a hamer, n’ a cool crew.
If yo afraid of height’s- this job ain’t meant for you!

So this is good bye-
from the crew, me, myself, and I.
Up here, we are pretty fly.
What bout you? Come on up here n’ try!

For three years now, I have been going to a work camp for part of my summer vacation. This rap is dedicated to the two roofing crews that I was with this year- 7&8.
