Forever Lost
My children are being auctioned today.
They will go to the rich white men who are willing to pay.
I have no control, my rights...I have none.
I have to be separated from my daughter and my son.
They stepped up on the block unaware of their fate.
The white men started coming to bid and to wait.
Owners linger ‘till they find the perfect slave,
Who is willing to work until his/her grave.
I watch as my babies stand on the platform,
I watch as my heart is broken and torn.
The bidding is started, the prices go up;
As I listen closely my tears could fill a cup.
Why does this happen, I don’t understand;
How is this allowed under God’s own hand?
The bidders stop, my children are bought.
I can’t handle the pain, I will forever be lost.
