Chained
September 10, 2014
I wonder what people would think
If they knew how I felt about my art
Would they think I'm just being shy?
Or acting like a tart?
I really don't care at all
About their darn thoughts
But unfortunately I have to consider
Their critical yet helpful taunts
Everyone says to follow your dreams
And overcome your fears
But really what I can't stand
Are my mournful tears
To see an expectant smile
Hoping and hoping and hoping
That what they see is what they think
To disappoint is crushing
I always say its experiment
In order to protect
My self-esteem and confidence
But in fact, I aim to perfect
So to prevent shame and ridicule
I go hide away, shy
But am I clipping my wings?
Preventing me to fly?
I wonder what people would say
If they knew my fragile mind
Would they say that I'm a wuss?
Or smile and be kind?
I'm scared of the world
And I care too damn much
But on my open canvas
I have meaning in every touch
Colors erupt from deep within
Emotions coming in herds
The freedom of expression
Chained by society's words
