Tears
Tears
(On Reading Anne Frank’s Diary of a Young Girl)
Everytime I think of you, infinite tears fill my eyes,
Oh Friend, what sins did you commit to pay such a heavy price?!
And as I am about to leave hope, I picture your smile,
Then I try to choke back my tears, but I can’t, so I do wet my cheeks once in a while.
I remember the time you were sad, you would still make me laugh,
But Dear, I knew that your heart ached, I could tell on your behalf.
“Maybe it was fate”, they say, and forget about you the next hour,
But I can’t do the same so they call me weak, but, Friend, forgetting you is not within my power.
And everyday when I read your Diary, I make a silent scream,
Just wanting to reverse everything and wishing, it’s all a dream.
“But maybe it’s time to face the truth”, I say to myself everytime but that doesn’t soothe.
And, dear Friend, whenever I think of your demise,
Everytime infinite tears fill my eyes…….
