Starlight
Shining bright
in the silent night
everything seemed pure and right
as i stood in the starlight
Darkness all around
shadows abound
and, to the earth, bound
as I just stand there, without a sound
I stand and take in all the stars
and the sound of the passing cars
and my memory, the image jars
as in remembrance of my many scars
The memories grip at me tight
bringing tears to my eyes and obscuring my sight
but i wipe them away, and try as i might
I can't look away from the starlight
