Leave
She had never planned on hanging around
She had dreams to big for this town
There was no use in holding her down
Getting out was all she ever thought about
She couldn't wait to leave
She just had to be free
No more responsibilities
That's all she ever believed
Smiling she kissed her mama good-bye
Promised her daddy she would be all right
And moved into a city with big lights
And spent every penny partying all night
She'd been living in a tiny apartment
Run-down and filthy and rodent infested
But once all the money they gave her was spent
She couldn't even afford the pitiful rent
She'd wanted so bad to leave
Thought she had to be free
Didn't want responsibilities
That's all she ever believed
With not enough money for a bus fare
She slept at one guy's then another's
But none of them really loved her
She was too ashamed to call her dad and mother
She'd wanted so bad to leave
Thought she had to be free
Didn't want responsibilities
That's all she ever believed
But one day she finally broke down
And hitched a ride back into her hometown
On her old dorr step she almost turned around
But that's where she finally found
She never had to leave
She was already free
Didn't mind the responsibilities
And she really didn't want to leave
She hugged her dad and mother
And they both forgave her
But what had really won her over
Was that they both really loved her
