Classroom of Penguins
In the sun of the Antarctic
where no one dares to stay,
on island of ice surrounded by dark waters,
is a Classroom of chattering Penguins.
Each Penguin has a story to tell,
a family to go home to and homework to be done.
But danger awaits them all,
as a necessary job must be completed.
The biggest Penguin squawks out instructions
to
line
up
but no Penguin dares to move.
For if they do,
some may never feel the sun’s warm rays again.
The biggest Penguin calls out a final warning,
one of courage, strength and pride
and finally
Four Penguins move.
Waddling to the coast,
the bravest warriors Line
Up
and stand for a moment,
just to feel the breeze of the sea one last time.
Before they head to a world of uncertainty.
But it’s all worth it for what they’re after.
One
by
One, the Four Penguins dive head first
into the unmeasurable abyss
where all of their friends and enemies lay.
The rest of the Class huddles near the edge of the float,
begging and praying for mercy and safe return.
They wait…and wait…and wait…
until a head pops back up.
But no more do after.
The Class cheers with joy (while some cry of sorrow)
at another chance for their kind.
With more assurance, four more jump into the waters
and six more follow suit.
The task soon comes to an end,
with the majority of the Class living another day
and a pile fish was there to prove it.
Sadly the other three
will never eat again
will never see their loved ones again
will never have adventures again,
but it was thanks to their first dive
that the Classroom could survive another day.
Life is a big adventure
that many are afraid to take on.
The Fear of Failure, The Fear of Death
the majority will hide away.
But if all of us hid,
how would we be able to achieve the things that are needed to be achieved?
Be the Penguin.
Be the First.
Take the risk.
Because when YOU take the lead,
Others will follow
and you will all succeed.
