Don't Fight
The light will fade
Night will come
Our hair will gray
We will forget every game we ever played
And become numb
For God is unlikely to come to our aid
All of our hard work may not be displayed
When we succumb
We alone will remember our own struggles and perseverance for a day
Our shine will be gone with the ephemeral light of day
And seep into dark corners of the slum
Even our deepest hopes could not keep fate at bay
Between night and day halfway
We say goodbye to the sun
And begin the decay
Don’t worry about missing today or yesterday
Don’t worry about returning as one of life’s alums
Don’t fight and don’t run astray
You won’t be back and there is no time for delay.
