You were that friend..
The one that would cry when I cried,
and when I hurt, you hurt more.
The one who didn’t ask questions when I seemed sad,
but bought ice cream and lent me a shoulder.
The one who could see through a smile
to the pain still lingering,
but who wouldn’t demand answers,
to explain the pain.
The friend that’s seen me in my worst moments,
mascara tears and broken smiles.
And when I would yell,
you understood that I was really yelling at myself.
The one who wouldn’t leave when I screamed it to your face,
because its times like those,
when I needed you the most.
The one that would never judge,
because you know how it feels.
And the kind of friend that knew
when lying was necessary to protect my heart,
or when truth was what I needed,
even if it broke me.
You picked up my pieces too many times to count,
and put me back together.
And somehow seemed to stop the clock from ticking,
when I was running out of time.
Out of every word ever spoken,
only one comes close to describing you…
