Let Go Of Me
We were raised by the older generation
they taught us their expectation
they told us to succeed
live the life we wanna lead.
Years pass, we're older now
leaving our marks some way, somehow
we've made mistakes
shared in heart break.
Through school we are stressed
homework, sports, music, tests
you've been with us all this time
yet somehow, you feel left behind.
We can't stay young forever
you have to let go, now or never
you held the torch for our blind eyes
but now we have to be free, and fly.
This isn't good bye for eternity
After all, you're family
but I have to make my legacy
so please, let go of me.
But you'll soon see
a twist of irony
as adulthood sets in
the same cycle starts again.

This poem is about when parents have to let their kids grow up and let them go and be free and then they soon realize that when their kids grow up they have to go through the same thing with their kids.
