On My Way Home
Someone said that distance is what makes the heart grow fonder.
Someone never had to be away from you for an hour or longer.
Time is ticking slower than ever, teasing, as I count down to our embrace.
Time is an aching anticipation, hovering, until I can once again caress your face.
To have you wrap your arms around me, with your fingers interlocked in mine.
To inhale your unique aroma forever, with this moment forever frozen in time.
My heart is somehow beating faster and slower, on this never ending rainy ride.
My improper arrhythmia is the beat and tune, to which inspired this entire rhyme.
There's smoke filled inside this vehicle, as I fight sleep now at all cost.
There's a map trusted to lead me to you, fore until reunited I am lost.
All of this linguistic commotion, spawned simply because you were on my mind.
And if it is you that I am finally reading this to, then I am once again whole inside.
