my finger traces lazy eights
on her belly and geometric
warrior-paint on the sighing hip
my lips twitch inward words
to her baptismal-water eyes
her toes incubated in warm
spring-pebble sand where we buried stars
she was simply beautiful
and they'll damn us for it
for this
simply unforgetable beauty
