Strangers
I look at you
You look at me
There are many things we fail to see
Your eyes quickly look down
Indifferent to a smile or frown
I'm just a random person
Just a fragment of your day
You are so fast to look away
What if you were to say a word
Greet me quietly
A sign of knowing I'm there
Do you know what I'm thinking?
How my life is?
Try as hard as you can
To look closer
To see me for who I really am
Am I still a stranger to you now?
Did you steal a glimpse into me?
Was it my soul your afraid to see?
An empty reflection of who I used to be?
Or who you are?
You don't take the time to really look.
We walk our separate ways
We are too shy to reach out our hands
Too shy to ask to stay
Too ignorant to know
Too into ourselves to care and emotion show
We are strangers still and again
