NEWSFLASH
They told me never lie, yet never told the truth
I thought I had an idea, but I never had a clue
I thought my friends would be my friends
And love would be like what I seen on TV,
I was raised gullible, can’t help that I’m naive
Never knew a person could be in so much pain
I’m starting to miss the scratches I got on my knee
Because I’d cry, receive a Band-Aid, then continue to watch the proud family
The long days outside, I seemed to never get enough
But now my days consist of being isolated in my room,
Because social media has me stuck
This is not what I imagined
When I planned on growing up
I saw the world as an innocent little girl
Nothing but rainbows and cupcakes
NEWSFLASH!
Your life is going to be filled with lies, pain, and heart-break
And yes, I know it sucks, but that’s just how life goes
You’ll never appreciate the highs in life,
If you don’t experience the lows
Although I’ll forever miss the innocence and the obliviousness of being a kid
The truth is that was never meant to be,
And that’s why it was forbid
They told me never lie, yet never told the truth
I thought I had an idea, but I never had a clue
I’m still growing up
And just trying to find my way
My ideal world was deceived
And you can say that I’m afraid
But I’m sure I’ll be fine,
I’ll fight this battle like a soldier
Because there’s a Man upstairs watching over me
And I believe my faith is in the eyes of my beholder
