Personal Pieces Of Art
Poems are supposed to be
personal pieces of art.
Personal pieces of art
that should be and are personal
to the writer.
Emotions flowing freely upon the page
without the fear of being discouraged.
Opinions being unleashed from being locked away
due to fear of judgement.
Memories telling a story of a time
of importance, good or bad.
Emotions are feelings,
In this case that certain person is the writer.
So if the writer feels sad, why tell them feel depressed?
If they feel happy, then why tell them feel joyful?
If they feel stuck, why tell them feel crowded?
Opinions are views,
Everyone has an opinion about everything.
Why tell them its wrong or to change it?
If they think homeworks lame, it's lame.
If they hate donald trump, they hate trump.
If they don't like a certain hairstyle, they don't like it.
Memories are stories,
Stories of events that happened in someone's past.
They could be years to minutes old.
If it's an old memory and they just say sky, why say add blue?
What if the person didn't remember what kind of sky it was?
If it was a sad and painful memory why tell them to say depressing?
What if they cut out certain parts they didn't want to share?
Why tell them to add more, especially
if you didn't know why they wanted to leave it out?
Poems are personal
So why allow people to change or edit them?
