Denial
In a place of isolation and manipulation
Insulting slurs and racial segregation
Only the strong will survive
Only the passing will strive
Division in monochrome colors
By blood bonded hidden brothers
Abandoned between oppression and complexion
A natural selection of abhorrent contemplation
New discovered forms of slavery
Ideas of no intended bravery
The world above becomes perdition
Lies left in silenced allegations
True identities destined to be concealed
A loathe left exposed and revealed
The unsettling shouts and accusations
Ebony ones seen as cursed hallucinations
Things children can’t seem to comprehend
Not allowed to have ivory best friends
Tears carving trails on tainted mahogany cheeks
As Jr cries” the white folk boys called me a freak”
Our minds have been secluded and captive
A sly and disrupting corrupted tactic
Life is determined by a drop of melanin
Intelligence is seemed less, completely irrelevant
Constant battles of envy within a diverse race
Blame who brought our generations to a foreign place
Induced indoctrination and persistent humiliation
A deceiving racial dictating constitution within the nation
Visible recognizable evidence of a will to stay pertinent
Of the white man being depicted to be all and eminent
Such a waste of fighting for freedom
With mad people you can never reason

This poem is based on the book "Passing" byNella Larsen as a whole. It depicts the divison that still occurs in society. Please do not feel as if I am attacking an indivual group of people, that is not my purpose. I hope you enjoy.
