Persistent, Parasitic Guilt!
A knock, a nudge,
On the shoulder,
When I steal the chocolate fudge,
I hear a whisper,
And a footstep,
A soft and triumphant voice, it speaks,
"Oh! Wha have you done, Miep?"
And at that moment fear peaks.
Oh, guilt! I know your small circle,
"Fear and lies", completes the pirate with the monocle.
Guilt-the pest, it gnaws away,
Like a rat does to anything in its way.
But here, the "anything"
Is criminal Ms. Miep Ping.
So, enough with the suffering,
Let's go and find Ms. Confessing,
She scolds me, but corrects me,
And drives away the impish Guilt.
And to those who can't be troubled by Guilt,
Let me give their conscience a tilt,
Though guilt is troublesome,
It helps us to realize that wrong is loathsome.

Guilt is something very irritating, but reawakening, something that is necessary for a righteous life.
