The Special Day
As he lies close to me,
I can’t help but think about that special day.
I’m wearing that amazing once-in-a-lifetime white dress--
My hair down with loose curls so perfect and beautiful.
I see these orchids all around me
As I walk down the aisle with my grandfather at my side.
He is walking so tall and strong;
I can only see the man of my dreams.
Waiting for me at the end,
He is standing there so tall and handsome
With a beautiful bright smile on his face.
As I make it to the end,
To be right there beside him,
To say our “I do’s,”
He holds my hand so softly and gently,
And places on my finger the most beautiful ring
To symbolize his love and affection
Then presses his lips against mine.
As we gaze into each others eyes,
I realize all this was only a dream.
As I wake up and I’m in reality,
He is still gazing into my eyes,
As if something had really happened
Only then does he pull out a ring,
And say those special words to me--
“Will you marry me?”
