We’ve helped these wings unfurl themselves
To teach them flight and fall
Traced their tiny vessels
And direct them to stand tall
We hold each other’s starry tears
As pain rips through our spines
For we bare the weight of responsibility
And support all colors in our lines
We have followed the paved roads
And protected our minds from dying
To prove to our predecessors
That we’re finally butterflying
