The Gratitude Of Loss
I don’t think I could ask for anything more
Some things are better left unspoken
Cause I know you walked out of the door.
I know years ago I was crushed by the pain
You sting, you bruise, but look at me today
This bird is better when there’s no you clenching the chains.
Cause I’m finally free to soar
After you walked out of the door.
You can’t see the dawn before you live through dusk
And I’m happy the storm crossed paths with me
Cause the rainbow’s just too beautiful to be bathing in that dust.
I’m happier to have enemies honest to me
Than to build friendships and ties
With idols of hypocrisy.
Guess I’m grateful to you for
Walking out of the door.
