Winter of the Good Faith
Oh Midwinter, bleak Midwinter,
Cruel mistress that you are.
Gales and torrents bend to meet her.
Oh Great Suffering near and far.
--
Yet between the howles and lurching,
Rising up a spark of Hope.
Songs of Joy and great Thanksgiving,
Sustaining long and Glorious notes.
--
Hope, persistent in ambition,
Feeds our weary, hungry Souls.
Once complacent in submission,
Hearts do change to New-age tone.
--
Time of Mourning, Time of Musing,
Ever growing lessons learned.
That is of Her greatest boasting,
Winter of reflection turned.
