Song of the Sea
You think you’ve seen it all by now
Crystal skies and secret caves
Mystery is what you seek
Hidden pictures in the waves
But my dear,
Can you hear
If you listen?
The music that comes from the sea
On the coast
Lives the ghost
Of a sailor
Lulling the cliff sides to sleep
To most
It is faint
And retiring
A chant which so softly enspells
The lull
Of the tides
And the moonbeams
Of the ocean waves in a conch shell
His words are a powerful siren
But my child, you mustn’t stray near
For if you encroach on his dwelling
He’ll smile and disappear
I was once young and foolish
Too curious, precocious, and vain
I called out to that sailor
And I never saw him again
