Fire of Life
Raindrops drum on the roof
The dark and star-filled sky
Not feeling an ounce of gloom
While the late hours pass by
I reminisce on the past
Nostalgia fills my mind
The joys of careless childhood
Living life to the fullest all the time
Those were the days I really lived
Shopping, playing, hanging around
When I never had to think about
The struggles of life cracking down
To be successful, making money
Living up to expectations,
Working, struggling, persevering
Raising another generation
It's the same thing day after day
The cycle never seems to end
And what are we even working towards
I can never comprehend
No longer is there a goal in my life
Nothing to look forward to
Cuz when you think the hardship’s over
There will always be something new
I regret living to this point
And I feel sorry for us who do
We’ve burnt out the excitement of the world
Should’ve left before the fire was through
Life is like a little plant
Beautiful and green when it's young
With firm determination
To one day reach the sun
But over time it grows older
Only to one day realize
Living through wildfires, It won’t
Reach the sun before it dies
So here I sit in the middle of the night
The rainy sky putting out the fire
To memories of my youth, I hold on
And like the flame, my life expires
