A Tragedy Within
bear witness to the disease
that lurks beneath the so-called love
that traps her heart into a web of lies
a sinking...almost like quicksand
a drowning...almost a death
...heartbreak that crushes her as her hands tremble at the thought
tears urge to fall
from the face that masks its humanity
the numbness of it all...
i can't bear...
bear witness to this downfall
Cries from the heavens
echo and clamor her twisted mind
as her hands twist beside her
Heavens, no, she can't live
w/ the secret man engrossed in her memory
shhhhhh...the library quietness
the scurriness of her furtive glances
bear witness to this downfall as CREAK!
The door of the bedroom creaks open
She steps forward
hesitant but alert
afraid but itching to look
JUBULATION! Her "only" man, a smile curved
but GASP!
a shadow, a head of wavy curls, hour-glass shape
steps from the bathroom
and NOOOOOO! she cries
stabbed w/ pain to her lungs
as she heaves, chest pounding
how can he do such a thing?
does he know of her unkindly crimes?
was it all revenge?
...or just coincidence?
snapped back to reality
like the rubber band snapped at her wrists
her mouth forms an O, eyebrows arched forward
as she curses the skies and ceiling above
not love, not love, not love
muttering, breathless,
insane yet breathless
reaching for the final inhale of air
as we bear witness to her downfall...
the head of curls, puzzled yet worried
Who is this fallen one?
man says "she's my fiance" as he sobs like a child
"no need for this ring that i've brought"
"no...need for healing instead."
the still-confused woman leaves
as she strides, hips in full motion
as the man shouts:
"What happened to my wife?"
no need for explanation
as we bear witness to this tragedy...
