we are the little gods on earth
soldiers charging into war
bodies cloaked in silver shine
fallen horses bleeding red
and all for those with right divine
early morn when he awakes
his somber nobles ring the bed
they dress him in his gowns of gold
he lives! they cheer tears yet unshed
he wages war with parliament
king and queens of far away
he tames his court with etiquette
throws feasts of laugh and play
but in the castle corridors
as ballroom music rings
he pulls aside a nobleman
and whispers secret things
amidst the heavy curtains silk
his servants sweep the hearth
all worship fight believe and die
just for the little gods on earth
