Unrequited Love
Nothing takes the persistently perky buzz from a bee,
Or the dazzling twinkle from the stars at night,
The bird’s peaceful chirp in the morning
And a firefly’s marvelously brilliant light,
Nothing takes the glorified accomplishment out of success,
Or a tight hug’s consoling embrace,
The pleasant scent of blossoming flowers in springtime,
And the joyful cheer of children on no-school snow days,
Nothing takes the soothing comfort from a cozy blanket,
Or the pristine façade of untouched, freshly-fallen show,
The victorious triumph of snagging and reeling in a fish,
And a bonfire’s warningly radiant glow,
Nothing takes the enjoyable squish of warm sand between your toes,
Or the gleaming shine from the sun above,
The warmth of reminiscing of good memoires,
Quite like unrequited love.

“Nothing takes the taste out of peanut butter quite like unrequited love.”
Because its true: when love goes unnoticed or unreturned, it makes a massive difference in the littlest everyday joys in life.
