Independence Day
My life ended
On the Fourth of July
Hot dogs vended
On my day to die
So fly high
Are the rockets’ paths
I light mine
At the neighbor’s cats
She meets me on
The covered bridge
We are long gone
From Lover’s Ridge
I broke her heart
Now I see why
She breaks apart
Now I must die
We loved and roamed
I broke and shattered
She’s not bemoaned
I fell so tattered
I cut across and down
My cold blood seeps
I fear no h*** or hound
Yet still, blood weeps
I fly high
As the rockets’ paths
To the sky
By so smoky glass
I am dead
So go out and play
Feel no dread
On my Independence Day

this is so... amazing!!!
I wrote this after I cheated on my girlfriend and broke up with her. I think it hurt me more than her because I still hold onto it while she has moved on. I though that it would be poetic to be liberated from the pain on Independence Day.
