If Only She Was Thinner
Her eyes would grace the world,
A cobalt emerald shimmer.
The kiss of subtle hurt--
If only she was thinner.
Her hair a shining carpet,
A woven golden glimmer,
A beauty in the works--
If only she was thinner.
Her lips part ways with joy,
The smile of a sinner.
A lonesome girl sings
“If only she was thinner.”
A boy looks on with pain,
A fight, a war to win her,
And still he hears them say,
“If only she was thinner.”
The girl turns to despair,
A battle calls within her
And to the world declares
“If only I were thinner.”
The boy, in comfort lost
Says of the ones who trick her
“I needn‘t sight to see
That no one can be thicker.”
