Soaring and Determined
I soar above the great tan rock,
My wings spread out wide,
Determined not to join the flock,
I caw and flap with pride.
I fly close to a lone green tree,
I’m sure it’s determined as well,
The wind ruffles my feathers, so free,
But then the rain falls like a spell.
Over many long flying years,
I begin to see more and more green,
Now the tree is among its peers,
I guess it gets lonely in a ravine.
