My Boy Who Came From the Sea
We found you somewhere
living by the shoreline.
You slept under the boardwalk
and sold starfish for money.
The sun was your friend.
You played with him daily,
and everyone could tell
from your rosy red cheeks.
At night, you watched the stars
for hours upon hours.
It didn't go to waste
because they all watched you backed.
Oh! What a strange boy you were..
And are, and always will be.
My boy who came from the sea.
We took you home with us
in our old station wagon.
It smelled of the ocean
even after you left.
We lived in a small
house in the suburbs.
You were confused
at our ways of life.
For weeks, I could tell that you
longed for your old life.
I help you escape
back to your home on the coast.
Oh! What a strange boy you were..
And are, and always will be.
My boy who came from the sea.
