Cloud 9 Departure
I know you’re never going to understand,
What it’s like to burn from the outside in;
I wish it wouldn’t have to be the end,
It’s going to be tough to rebuild again.
But words stream down my face,
Like they won’t exist anymore.
In my heart I try to find the space,
But with my pieces, forgiveness exits the door.
Taunting days pass and turn into sleepless nights,
I try to find happiness and remake;
I’m no longer me, I’m no longer right,
I give and all I receive is heartache.
My trust is shattered like broken pieces of glass,
Eyes bled dry from all the tears I’ve cried.
I thought this pain would never rehash,
But instincts have failed and people have lied.
Finally seeing my value at the end of this dark cave,
Tired of trains brushing right through me,
I grasp at the strength willing to save;
I breathe it in, opening my eyes, I finally see…
I want this to work; I want to start over,
Forget it all and every pain it brings;
But this pain inside my chest gets colder and colder,
And every sight still stings.
I know you’re never going to understand,
What it’s like to burn from the outside in;
I wish it wouldn’t have to be the end,
It’s going to be tough to rebuild again.
