Departure on the Seashore
Fine white sand beneath my feet
Holding hands with someone sweet
Gentle breeze runs through my hair
This moment is for us to share
A smile for me, a smile for him
Suddenly, then on a whim
I reach over, stroke his hair
Lips then touch, a kiss we share
Waves lap softly at my toes
Hand in hand, nose to nose
Watching sunset by the sea
All alone, just him and me
Sun sinks lower in the sky
Yet we refuse to say goodbye
A perfect end to perfect day
“I love you” is all I say
Evening’s gone, and night is here
Soon we depart is what I fear
Stars wink way up in the black
I fear more time is all we lack
Midnight comes, and we remain
Of energy, I feel so drained
Slowly nodding off to sleep
I wish he could be mine to keep
Morning comes; I start to cry
Now is when we say goodbye
I watch him leave, away from me
And whisper God a silent plea
