In and Out
Even now, all I see is the darkness taking over.
I slip in and out. In and out.
Washing over me, like the deepest, darkest wave.
Controlling me like a puppet on a string.
"It's not time to wake up yet, don't open your eyes".
In and out, in and out.
Limbo, needle: no control.
In and out, in and out.
The sense that nothing around you is real,
No light, just a shade of black.
A dark blanket, an airtight blindfold.
I still slip in and out.
Boat on the Black Sea:
Drifting, almost peacefully, away from shore.
But hospital lights flash with a force so bright.
I'm in and out, in and out.
