Sleep away the Sadness
Tucked in, safely away,
Escaping the cruelty of the day.
I bet you can't hear my silent cries,
I bet you can't see a tear fly
From my eye, it hits my cheek
And gently rolls, growing weak,
Giving up but falling down,
Soaking into my dressing gown.
Brought up on lies that the world is kind,
Told to grow up, leave childhood behind.
You're a big girl they often say,
So that really makes it all okay?
I'm crying for the day that's passed,
I'm alone and tucked in at last.
But that doesn't mean I'm safe and sound,
Peace is someone who can't be found.
