To My Lover
I fell too fast, crashed too hard,
And now I’ve finally stopped falling,
I’m left to recover the best I can
From a heartbreak with no warning.
You try bringing me flowers;
100 roses will not do.
Along with a card, a poem and my name:
‘To My Lover’, then signed by you.
When I talked to the moon,
I asked her ‘where from here?’
She said maybe to forgive and move on,
Maybe a fresh start is near.
I always keep my promises,
Everything I say I do.
I’m sure in the end we’ll work it out.
I’ll forgive because I love you.
