Nature, Dearest
I’m alive,
And nature is by my side.
He listens to my dismay,
And tries to turn my night to day.
He sees how life can take a toll,
But he doesn't see it through my eyes.
He sees all and he feels all.
He knows that fire can hurt you,
But he has yet to see the fire that’s within all of us.
He knows not of what I could possibly do.
He’s all too compassionate.
He wants to see,
He wants to know.
Should I tell him?
Surely it would kill him!
Humanity can be so dim..
I’ll give him a warning,
I’ll set things right.
He will eventually come to see the light, right?
Maybe he will be able to see the good in us again.
Maybe he will forgive our transgressions.
I didn't mean to burn his trees,
Or deplete his waterways.
I only wanted to extend my reach.
I swear it!
I do beseech.
I tried to clean his bays,
But he ignored every single bit.
I washed away this once red sea,
And filled it with the greatest of glee.
I filled it with his fish, his plants, and his heart.
It was at least a start.
He won’t even look at me now.
Oh, Nature! Hear my guilt,
Feel my repent,
See my disillusionment.
It’s torment I say.
Torment indeed.
You once listened patiently at my sadness,
And tried to partake in my gladness.
So I beg you to see,
That all I wanted to do was be closer to thee!
