Heart Murmur
Does my heart beat like yours?
The doctor wouldn’t tell me.
I swore I heard a murmur,
a hole beneath the swelling.
Am I alright, Mother?
Will the hole heal someday?
Will I be able to love?
Am I truly okay?
They tell me it’s gone now,
but a piece of me is missing.
My blood pours out,
I can hear it hissing.
So tell me;
Does my heart beat like yours?
Are you waiting for something,
Searching on the shores?

When I was a baby, I had a heart murmur, which is like having a hole in your heart. It went away within a month, but I still feel like it's their, like I haven't been made entirely whole just yet.
