Not Enough
What could I have said to make you stay?
Was I a problem you wanted away?
I thought I could give you all that you need,
But that was a truth that you couldn't believe.
What didn't i do to make you feel close?
When all the time I felt like a ghost.
I paid the toll to get through your walls.
I gave you my dreams; you rejected them all.
It wasn't enough to push me aside?
When I said I'd be fine, I lied.
But you pushed and you pulled and you brought me to tears.
I loved you for all of those wasted years.
Was it not enough; the time I gave?
Mine was the soul you couldn't save.
You left without goodbye, to “save me the pain”.
Yet you knew you'd never see me again.
