If I Were A Butterfly
I wish I were a butterfly
With wings so delicate
A tiny, hovering shadow
No walking, only flit
I wish I were a butterfly
So fragile and exquisite
Weighing no more than a pound
The design on my wings intricate
I wish I were a butterfly
My beautiful colors and marks
Painted by the finger of God
If I were a butterfly
I'd fly over the flowers in
The garden at the special house of
Eggert Palace
If I were a buttefly
I'd dance in the snow
In the leaves
In the sunset, in the moonlight
And at dawn
I'd circle the stars
And I would flitter over a
Little girl's bed
Send her sweet dreams
Kiss her eyelashes
Flutter out of reach
If I were a butterfly
My brothers would miss me
We wouldn't be able to communicate
Butterflies have no ears
If I were a butterfly
My cats would miss me
I wouldn't be able to feed them
Play with them and say
I love you
If I were a butterfly
There would be no hugs
A touch means death
So, butterfly... butterfly
But I will be a butterfly
And a girl
I will grow beautiful and graceful
And I will fly
Butterflies are magical
I'm not meant to be
I will watch them forever
And I will be me
