I stand in the Field of Hope as the sun sets
My heart sinks with the sun but yet
As the last light disappears over the trees
My mind  drifts to dream of ye.

No dreams come to greet me
Only a Nightmare to consume me.
In forever darkness I lay
Bewildered and astray.

As I muster my courage to stand
I imagine you here holding my hand
For when Green eyes meet Silver
Fear is but a sliver.

As I see beyond my soul surrounded by fear
Do I see the painful past bound in tears.
A light shines in my chest
And I realize my love for you cannot be best.

A sword appears at my side
Bound in a leather sheath of hide
This sword is Love
Sharp, for I know nothing above.

A shield in my hand
For a signal that I can.
Its name is Courage
And I take it as your page.

The Nightmare stands before me
Laughing at my love for ye.
“Have you no mind, child?
I stand before you lethal and wild.”

“Yet your chest is out
In bravado or courage no doubt.”
I respond with haste,
“When I cut out your tongue will you still crave blood and its iron taste?”

From there the battle unfolds
Insanity versus Courage and I ever so bold
Death is upon me but still I fight
With my sword and its vengeful bite.

Cut and dying I can barely stand
Nightmare before me without its head
I crumble knowing this is probably the end
Until I see the Light ever so mending.

I awake to day in a sweat
I turn to see you still sleeping I bet.
My mind slows to a rest
My heart still pounding in my chest.
