Thoughts of a Dreaming Girl
Guide my tears to the ocean
And there may you let them lay:
A pool of forsaken dreams,
A sapphire river of day.
Lead me into the forest
To a world of ivied green.
Let us hunt the lost stanzas;
Let us seek the woodland queen.
Take my heart to the heavens
And give me wings of pure white;
Raise me into weightlessness,
Into a bird's soaring flight.
Hold my small hand when I laugh
Lest the sound steal my childhood;
Sing away the dark nightmares,
Evil giving way to good.
Teach the wilting rose to live
And sprinkle her with hope,
Fill her eyes with love and youth;
Unbind her of cruelty's rope.
