Wild Release
The wind snaps.
Fierce,
Reaching, snagging,
Teasing my hair into knots.
I don’t care.
I welcome the wind,
Revel in its ferocity
As it cools my skin,
Silences the rest of the world.
The silence liberates me.
A break from the constant chatter,
The never ending problems.
Always,
in need of solving.
How did it fall to me to save the world?
And yet
Through the silence,
I hear the pounding of my own heart,
As the adrenaline rushes through me.
I focus on the rhythm.
It gives me an anchor,
Allowing me to give myself to the speed.
As I feel the fire hissing through my veins,
The tension falls away.
I fly over the water.
I am cut from my chains,
Separated from the weights.
The ones that clip my wings,
Dull my rush.
Here, I am free.
